AHA Heartcode Skills Sessions vs. In-Person AHA Classes

To certify or re-certify your AHA certification, there are two options available:

aha skills sessions

1. Heartcode (Blended Learning) Option

This option requires you to purchase and complete the online AHA course before attending an in-person skills session. The online portion of the course features adaptive learning so as you answer questions correctly, the course will progress faster. For this reason, the time to complete the online course can vary from person to person. We only recommend this option for experienced healthcare providers (not for first time students or students who have been expired for more than 1 year).

Note: This is the most expensive option as it requires you to purchase both the online course directly from AHA and also pay for the skills session separately.

2. In-Person AHA Classes

a. BLS Courses: For our in-person AHA BLS classes, you don’t need to do anything beforehand (except register/pay for your class online on our website).

b. ACLS/PALS First Time/Expired Courses: For our in-person AHA ACLS/PALS for first time students or students with an expired certification, you will receive an automatic confirmation email upon registration/payment with the info about how to prepare for your class. There is an online portion of the course that the American Heart Association requires for all students. This portion is completed at home online and is included in the course cost. We highly recommend registering early so that you have enough time to complete all of the online precourse work requirements before your class as it can take students anywhere from 3-5 hours, depending on your current skill/knowledge level.

c. ACLS/PALS Renewal Courses: For our in-person AHA ACLS/PALS Renewal classes, you will receive an automatic confirmation email upon registration/payment with the info about how to prepare for your class. There is an online portion of the course that the American Heart Association requires for all students. This portion is completed at home online and is included in the course cost.
